Welcome to Canvas Basics Training!

The Canvas Learning Management System is modern digital learning platform adopted by Collier County Public Schools. With an intuitive user interface, greater mobile functionality, efficient grading, and higher flexibility, we believe that Canvas will better serve the needs of both our students and instructors.

It is essential for all of our instructors to have a basic understanding of Canvas functions. This training will provide you with necessary the information to successfully teach using Canvas.

We have a self-paced training for our faculty.  Canvas Basics: Basics of Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). This training is for all Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) instructors. It covers the basics of using Canvas. (Estimated time: 6 hours)

Information presented in this  training course will remain a resource to you once you have completed the training. Also, we continuously improve the content of these courses. Feel free to visit back anytime you need to refresh your Canvas skills.

Canvas I : Basics of Canvas LMS

This self-paced course is for anyone wanting to learn how to use a Learning Management System (LMS). An instructor will review your submissions and provide feedback for your work. Participants can work through the modules at their own pace. There are six modules which must be completed sequentially. In each module, you will first watch video tutorials or read step-by-step instructions and then complete relevant tasks in your SandBox course. The purpose is to make sure that you practice what you learn in the tutorials so you are prepared to teach your actual course in Canvas. Each module will take approximately 25-45 minutes to read, review, and complete.

Before starting, make sure you have your Sandbox course on your dashboard that your role set as a teacher. If you do not see this course on your dashboard, contact us at hanceam@collierschools.com before starting this training. While you are completing this training, open your Sandbox course and complete the tasks/assignments in the SandBox course.

To start, go to the Modules tab on the left to begin.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive 6 MIP points .  In addition, you will earn a digital badge which will be displayed on your Badgr profile page and can be publicly shared on your LinkedIn profile as well.
